Safe storage of your keys is the best way to limit your exposure to bad actors and a comprised account. The safest way to interact with Genesis League Goals is through Hive Keychain. You can find the appropriate version for your specific device by following these steps.
Note: there is also a mobile version of Hive Keychain
Steps 1-5 are on the installation process which may look slightly different depending on the device.
Steps A-K are on the setup and usage of Hive Keychain itself.
Steps H & I provide optional instructions for adding a second account.
Steps H, J, K & L provide optional instructions for updating or altering the keys stored in Keychain.
Hive Keychain Installation
Step 1: Google Hive Keychain, or click the links above in this article - make sure the URL says hive-keychain.com.
Step 2: On hive-keychain.com, scroll down until you find the appropriate browser/device.
Step 3: Select the appropriate link and download the setup file. For this example, we are using Brave Browser. Yours will look similar but will depend on the browser version. Click Add to Brave.
Step 4: Click Add Extension to Brave. This will give Keychain permission to interact with websites and sign transactions without you having to manually enter your Hive keys every time.
Step 5: Click the Puzzle Piece circled in red and then the purple Hive Keychain link. The blue pin will keep the Keychain icon in the top right of your browser at all times.
Setup and Usage of Hive Keychain
Step A: Set up a unique local password to open the Keychain on this device. After you create a password you will hit the submit button. This password is device-specific.
Step B: Next you will be prompted with the setup screen. Click the first button to Use Keys/Pwd.
Step C: You will need the master password that Genesis League Goals provided you (circled in purple).
You will take your username and master password and put them into the dialog box. Alternatively, you can load your keys one at a time by using them in place of the master password, but it's most efficient to load your master password first as it will automatically add the other keys. Next, click the Import Keys button.
Step D: Pick which keys you want to import then click Save (generally, you will need Posting and Active Keys; some people also choose to add their Memo key).
Step E: After you click Save, your wallet should look similar to this.
STEP F: TAKE ALL LEFTOVER COPIES OF YOUR KEYS AND PUT THEM INTO COLD STORAGE.
A zip drive or external hard drive is best for this. Take your master password, remove it from any access to the internet, and put it in a safe location in case you need it in the future. Be creative, be safe, and have a plan in place in case you are unable to get physical access to these backups.
Optional Instructions for Adding a Second Account & Updating or Altering the Keys Stored in Keychain
Step G: To add a second account, click the Three Lines in the image above.
Step H: Click Add Account, then follow Steps B-E previously outlined.
Step I - MANAGE ACCOUNTS SCREEN: If you click on the Click to Show Private Key button (blue circle), you see the private key stored in Hive Keychain and be able to copy it directly. The green circle shows where you can view the public versions of each of the keys. Clicking the Remove button (red circle) will remove this key from the wallet.
Step J: Click the Remove Key from Step I and your screen will look like this. If you then click the Plus Button for the key you want to add, it will take you to the next screen.
Step K: Add a new key and click Import Key.
